Praised be the name of Jesus!

 

I pray your Lenten journey was filled with many graces and well-poised for the glories of the Easter season. Our God is so good to us when decide to place all our trust in him and his divine providence.

 

In this letter, as I try to read the signs of the times and the trends in our domestic culture, I’d like to share my concern that many Catholics seem unaware of, or misinformed in regards to the most significant attack during our lifetimes on our faith and the religious freedoms we hold dear as Catholic Christians and citizens of the Unites States by the Obama Administration. If you’re solely relying on the secular media for news facts, you will not get the facts on this pressing matter.

 

Therefore, please take some time to read the facts on the FACT SHEET below this letter concerning the HHS (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) Mandate. We urgently need legislation to correct the mandate’s threats to religious liberty and conscience rights. The Respect for Rights of Conscience Act as been introduced in Congress (H.R. 1179, S. 1467) to ensure that those who participate in the market for health insurance “retain the right to provide, purchase, or enroll in health coverage that is consistent with their religious beliefs and moral convictions.”

 

This is pressing concern. As Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, archbishop of New York and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said in a video posted hours after the HHS Mandate was announced, “Never before has the federal government forced individuals and organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product that violates their conscience”.

 

Please act now. How will you respond? To whom will you be faithful? To this openly hostile, anti-Catholic administration? Or to Jesus Christ, the Church He founded and the principles our country was founded upon at great cost to our forbearers?
